Position Summary: As a Home Care Worker Level 1, you will provide essential support services to clients in their homes. Your role will involve assisting with daily living activities, fostering a safe, clean and comfortable environment, and promoting the dignity and independence of each client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with personal care tasks
- Support clients with daily living activities, including meal preparation, housekeeping, and laundry.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring the safety and comfort of clients.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in clients’ conditions, needs or requirements.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including infection control protocols.
- Respect client confidentiality and uphold the rights and dignity of each individual.
Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
- Previous experience in a home care or community support role is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Kind, Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Requirements:
- NDIS Workers Clearance – Yellow Card
- NDIS Working with Children – Blue Card
- First Aid & CPR
Working Conditions:
- Flexible working hours, and recurring shifts.
- Travel to clients’ homes within the designated area.
- Administration support at the end of a phone
- Zero tolerance for disrespect or abuse.
To become an NDIS worker in Australia, you need to complete several training courses and clearances based on your role. Here’s a quick overview:
- Mandatory Training
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module: A free online course covering NDIS values, participant rights, and worker responsibilities.
- First Aid & CPR: Recommended for most roles, particularly in personal care.
- Disability-Specific Training (optional): Specialized courses like manual handling, positive behaviour support, or autism awareness may be beneficial depending on your role.
- Clearances
- Working with Children Check: Required if working with children (varies by state/territory).
- NDIS Worker Screening Check: Mandatory for direct support roles, assessing criminal history, abuse, and relevant disciplinary findings.
- COVID-19 Vaccination: May be required depending on your role and location.
